Therapy, therapy and more therapy

Lily continues to work very hard in her therapies. She works 6 days a week, 3-4 hours a day. We met with a specialist this week and learned more daily exercises to do with Lily. We have so many activities to do with her that there aren’t enough hours in the day. So we have to pick and choose and allow some down time for her, too. We also started some alternative therapy with her last week, Qijong, to improve her Chi/energy flow.

We have also been making a point to visit school. Lily lights up when she sees her classmates. They are silly and know how to make her laugh.

Although Lily is progressing she has had her share of bumps in the road. We are considering the fundoplication surgery for Lily. So she had to undergo some GI tests. At the same time she had her feeding tube replaced. Unfortunately this did not go well and presented some complications which kept us in the hospital overnight. She seems to be better but it’s been a rough last week for her.

We welcome visitors. Our visitors have fallen off and I think Lily is really missing her friends. If you want to visit please give us a call. I know it can be awkward for friends to visit because they don’t know what to say to Lily because she is not talking and in a wheelchair but she understand everything. Kids can come read to Lily, talk about memories they have together, show her their art or stuffed animals. Or even bring a pet to visit.

Lily was recommended to the Knights of Malta to be selected for the 2013 Lourdes Pilgrimage. For those of you whom are Catholic you know what a big honor this would be for Lily. It is an 8-day pilgrimage of the sick to Lourdes, France. Lily would join 30,000 other sick individuals from around the world at this sacred, healing place. We are keeping our fingers crossed that she is chosen to participate. We will know by the end of February. We pray for Lily constantly; we pray she walks and talks and returns to all of her normal functioning.

Thank you for continuing to keep Lily in your daily thoughts and prayers.
